Why Is a Marketing Plan so Important?

To answer that question very quickly, I would say a resounding yes!

marketing plan of your own is very important.

When you’re starting out and trying to manage an online business it can be so overwhelming, especially for the uninitiated. There always seems to be so much to do, and so little time to do it.

Therefore in my opinion a plan of action for all your marketing strategies is vital.

You spend your days working very hard to build your own website, responding to email inquiries, creating sales pages, and so on, that very soon the days blur into weeks. You forget what it was that inspired you to begin the journey in the first place.

The steps you have taken already are enormous.

You have made a decision to take control of your destiny and create the life you desire.

So congratulations.

However!

Now is the time to build on these first steps with a solid plan of action.

There are a number of plans that you can and should use in your business.

Business plans, marketing plans and financial plans are all great examples of what you should have, and what you should later refer to.

There is a simple plan that you can do before developing any of the others just mentioned. This plan requires that you complete your ultimate goal in your mind, and work backwards.

Here’s what I mean.

Take the vision or idea that you had when you decided to begin your business, or begin a new project in the company you work for.

What was it that you could see as the end product?

How did it look, feel, taste, sound, smell?

Can you see it in your head?

Now, ask yourself this very important question.

What do I need to do to have (product, idea, report, etc) completed by (chose a date)?

This is one of the most powerful questions you could ask yourself.

It will get your brain working on a solution for you, even while you sleep.

With respect to the date – just pick one.

I once heard the expression that there are no unrealistic goals, just unrealistic time frames.

If you need a starting point, choose one year in the future.

So for example, your question might read:

What do I need to do to complete my new range of herbal products by June 1st 2017?

Now comes the next part, and it may sound a little tricky.

Assume you know the answer.

Tell yourself that you know the answer to this, and then get it down on paper.

Even use a tape recorder if you find talking about it out loud helps.

By doing this you silence the nagging voice of doubt in your head, and unlock the brains creative mind to find the solutions for you.

What has to happen 11 months from now for the goal to be realized?

10 months?

What has to happen in 6 months time for the end result to take place?

Keep working back to 12 months before the end date – today.

If you compare your plan to where you are now in real-time, and there is a discrepancy, then adjust your end date.

If your plan says that you need to have completed the testing to your product by the end of April 2017, and you know that it will be June before that task is completed, change the end date to be June 2017.

If you begin with the end result in mind, you will be able to have a clearer focus for your business, and develop a rough guide to help you with organizing your daily activities.

From this guide, you can begin preparing your action plans to really map out your path.

Remember – there are no wrong answers to this exercise, so have a go.

You are already half way there by taking the first steps you already have.

Here is a Simple Guide for Developing an Action Marketing Plan

Getting your initial qualified prospects to make a sale to be often called front end marketing.

Before seeking out prospects, having a marketing strategy is essential.

I’m going to present a lot of research and my objective is to include the need to quantify all the results from all your marketing efforts.

And to look at all the strategies for conducting direct marketing campaigns and testing variables to determine the effectiveness of each of the marketing strategies within your business.

Most people want to be successful, but few plan to be.

Very few people take the time to plan anything.

Most people take more time to plan their vacations than they do to plan their lives.

The most important thing you can do right now for your business is sit down and develop a marketing plan. Most business owners fail or they just move along because they don’t have a plan or goal for their business,

I want you to decide right now to make a detailed plan of what you’re going to do and how you’re going to do it. It’s the old saying,

“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”

You can say, I want to make more money or I want to be rich.

That’s nice, but too vague.

You would like to make 20,000 sales per month, that’s not a plan nor will it even come close to become a plan.

A plan is a detailed specific road of how you’re going to reach the targets you set out and the date that you want to reach them by.

An example is that you can set sales goals.

You can sell so many of your products for a week or so many of your services for a week.

You should offset these in net profit instead of gross profit because that is the money you’re making.

I know one lady who grosses $9,000,000 a year. Very impressive, She takes home roughly $100,000 of that.

That’s not very impressive, it may be nice to have $100,000 a year, but it’s not impressive when you’re grossing $9,000,000.

That won’t really tell you how well you’re doing,

You want to put down the numbers in net profit if you know your net per sale, and most business owners do not even know this, but if you do your way ahead of the game.

You can work backwards on how many sales you need, and then all you have to do is increase your number of sales per week or net profit per sale.

Develop a strategy for making those numbers; decide how you’re going to advertise.

How am I going to get referrals?

How am I going to get people to buy more often?

How am I going to get people to spend more?

This is the beginning of your marketing plan.

Go out and pick five of the best ideas or most realistic ideas and implement them.

Start using them to help you make your goal.

Choose another five, another five, and another five.

You want to set your goals on a weekly basis.

As you achieve them raise the level the next week. This way you will continue to improve and so will your income,

Don’t panic if you have a bad week. Just get right back on track and try to achieve the next week’s goals.

You want to get to know the numbers for your business. It is a business of numbers. You need to know the net profit per sale and how much it costs to get your new clients.

These are critical in knowing where you are and if you’re achieving your goals.

Take some time each week to plan.

It’s critical.

Here is a simple guide for you to use.

  • Write down your goal for your total net income you want the next week.
  • Write down the number of new clients that it will take to get that.
  • Write down your goal for number of repeat clients that you want to achieve.
  • Write down how many products you have to sell.
  • Write down the net income for each item and your average income per client.

You’ll come up with the total income you’re trying to achieve.

Each week put down the actual numbers you want to achieve and you’ll find out if you’re reaching them or not.

Then you’ll know if you need to increase marketing and in what areas.

Creating a simple marketing plan like this enables you to keep track with all the numbers and helps you to achieve your marketing goals.
